 MOST Control Platform - Redundancy

pg12.jpgRedundancy
The MOST Redundant Control System offers extensive redundancy choices including: controllers, control networks and system power supplies. Unlike some PLC solutions, adding a redundant controller is simple - you simply plug it in next to a running controller and it will automatically upload the configuration from the first controller while the first controller continues to operate.

Our redundant controller pair checks status multiple times through each processing loop enabling the backup controller to continuously monitor the health of the master controller, assuring a rapid and bump-less transfer to the standby controller when required. The MOST control system redundancy model supports on-line configuration and on-line firmware changes, where the updates are shared between controllers in real-time, resulting in an easy-to-use redundant system.

Redundant Ethernet
LAN redundancy is provided with MOST Fault Tolerant Ethernet, a Foundation Fieldbus compliant software product. A fully redundant local area network (LAN) can be provided where each controller has two independent redundant Ethernet ports that are connected to two separate independent networks. The controller monitors the networks' health and will switch between networks when a problem is detected.

Redundant power supplies are available to provide power for critical applications. An N+1 redundancy scheme is used for power supply redundancy where N power supplies are backed up by a single power supply, providing a cost-effective redundancy solution.
